Judge Chris Hoy SC

His Honour was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1985. His practice covered criminal work and civil litigation, administrative law, industrial disputes, and government appeals and tribunals. He was called to the Bar in 1989, and completed his Readership at Lachlan Macquarie Chambers. He was our first Reader. His Honour than moved to Frederick Jordan Chambers in the city after which he joined 12th Floor Wentworth Selbourne Chambers in 1991. His Honour was appointed Senior Counsel in 2008. His practice was extensive and covered most areas; specialising in crime (prosecution and defence), regulatory and administrative together with complex inquisitorial and coronial matters and of course common law. He gave generously of his time, coaching and regularly giving lectures to readers and often chaired and presented seminars. His Honour was on the Bar Association’s Criminal Law Committee and Professional Conduct Committees for many years. He was appointed as a Judge of the District Court of New South Wales on 16 April 2012.
